For those seeking adventure and willing to brave the cold, the Rhino Walk is an invigorating 4km trail that offers stunning views of the peninsula. Generally considered an easy route, it takes about 1 hour and 7 minutes to complete.
The walk takes you through diverse landscapes, including native bush and open fields. The crisp, refreshing winter air enhances the experience, and the panoramic views from the top make the effort worthwhile.
Be sure to wear sturdy hiking boots and dress in layers to stay warm. At the top of the hill, you’ll find a massive rhino statue standing proudly. From this spot, you can enjoy more breathtaking views, both back towards Akaroa and across the bays on the other side.
